A New Leg in the cLow Photography Journey

Two News Updates!

One – Portraiture

Portraiture

Interrupted by the pandemic — not that we can all completely let our guard down — I am looking for studio space (suggestions welcome) and will be offering portrait photography services.

I would love to hear from you!

(Note also the portrait I did of the lovely Sue Baker, jazz singer extraordinaire!)

Two – Fine Art Photography Sales
O'Connor Gallery, Dawn Rain
Red Dawn Rain -– O'Connor Gallery

The piece above is for sale, framed, at the O'Connor Gallery in Gananoque. Dennis is amazing, and will guide you through the process.

I plan to visit more galleries and promote my work more vigorously.

Feel free to inquire about any piece you might like!

Now for some catch-up, my favourites since the 2nd-last blog (because the last one concerned my all-time favourites).

The exact weather which sprayed water on this structure, which then froze like that, has never occurred before that I have seen.

The irony is that it's a safety sign, saying to call 911 in case of emergency, with a life-ring under all of that ice somewhere.

Also, you can't tell without something to give it scale, but that structure is much taller than an adult human.

Morristown New York Christmas Xmas Holiday Seasonal lights reflection

I went back a few days after making the photograph above, and the Hoiday lights (I presume) had disappeared.

Below, for comparison, is one I made in 2006. That light pattern still pleases me, and has not been like that for many years now.

The lesson: release the shutter.

The photograph above was me playing with a new, extreme-telephoto lens.

The lesson: play with new gear. That's how you get comfortable with it, learn its idiosyncracies.

One of the characteristics of this lens is that it emphasizes any atmospheric distortion (any extreme telephoto, of course, not just this one), and the amount on this winter's day, the river however unfrozen, so warmer than the air (which I presume is the explanation), produced what is almost an abstract.

I like it (or I wouldn't be posting it here). Let me know what you think.

Newness

Newness could refer to my current emphasis on portraits and fine-art sales, or to the themes of this blog's photographs, some of which are indeed new, at least in subject material.

Ask me about portraiture. Buy a piece of art. You know where to find me (Contact link above).

Subscribe

I would love it if you were to subscribe to this blog, and to refer friends; art collectors may find this interesting.

You may wish to look through my larger portfolio. Almost everything is for sale. I favour large wall art, and also deal in books and other small items: prints, notecards, and postcards.
