Giants Among Us

Reprise

The previous blog highlighted some photographers who inspire me, and I would like to add one who presented recently at the Brockville Area Photography Club:

Richard's work shows imagination, artistry, and ... sweat-equity! He apparently heads out roughly daily, and makes photographs. His pandemic-output does not seem to have suffered (as I think mine has) — he just finds absorbing subjects closer to home, and presents them in ways that few us could have thought of.

As well as producing his own work, he teaches extensively, and leads guided tours to varied spots around the globe. Participants uniformly seem to love it, and among many other attributes, find Richard highly personable.

I like the story he told of the larger group, on one photo-tour, astonished at what he and smaller core of learners had accomplished, and the reason, he said, was that he and a few others stayed longer on location, and had a light bestowed upon them that most, by heading back to the hotel for a rest or some refreshment, had missed.

We went to a lot of trouble and expense to get here, he said (and I'm paraphrasing shamelessly), and we can rest when we get back home. (I applaud the sentiment; as my faithful fan-base knows, I personally would do better by starting earlier than with continuing later!)

Prints sold

I enjoy this so much, sizing a photograph which has appealed to a client, and getting the print made. I currently use two print-shops, one very good (nothing leaves my studio until I'm happy), but I have to mention Mynd's i — custom-printing which will take your breath away. The extra funds will be of no consequence as the years roll by with a treasured work of art on display at your home or business.

And then a recent local client had a larger work framed at Hang Ups, and because of the pandemic I haven't yet been able to see what magic they wrought, but I hear that it's transfixing.

In this latter instance, we're talking about this photograph:

Projects

Private Property Photography

I have several things currently underway, and at least one of them involves you.

This entails finding vistas on private property, and the offers have begun to percolate in. If you have a property, or know of someone who does, which has:

then I would very much appreciate knowing.

I get something new to work on, and you will get at least one nice art-photography digital file for yourself.

(Thank you!)

Thank you all so much for reading.
